What To Expect
When you visit our hearing center, you will always be treated with the utmost care and respect. Because we are a family-owned practice, our team will always greet you upon arrival. Whether you are visiting our office for your own hearing health or for your child, the initial appointment will be broken into a few steps:
We will have you fill out some paperwork and then have a conversation. We want to understand you or your child’s hearing situation, medical history, and family history.
Then we will perform an ear exam by looking inside the ears at your eardrum and ear canal for any signs of infection, earwax impaction, or damage.
After we’ve checked your ears, then we will begin the hearing test. We offer diagnostic hearing tests for newborns, pediatrics, and adults. The purpose of the hearing exam is to assess how well you or your child can hear sounds at various frequencies.
We will go over the results of the hearing exam with you and work together to create a custom-tailored solution.
Our Owner and Head Audiologist
Dr. Jenelle Sandy, Au.D., CCC-A, has been an audiologist specializing in pediatrics and adults for over 10 years working specifically with diagnosis, hearing amplification, cochlear implants and programming. She has worked closely with aural (re)habilitation therapists, music therapists, psychologists, social workers, schools and otologists which lends itself to her command that care of a patient is multi-disciplinary and multifaceted.
Jenelle is a nurturing provider who has basic American Sign Language knowledge, is proficient in Spanish, and as a small, private practice, she can provide flexible scheduling hours to fit your family’s needs.
Tahoe Family Hearing Services
- Hearing evaluations including speech perception testing for newborns through geriatrics
- Newborn hearing screenings and full diagnostic testing using state of the art equipment
- Pediatric testing including visual reinforcement audiometry (VRA) and conditioned play audiometry (CPA)
- Hearing aid candidate evaluation and assessments including comprehensive questionnaires and speech perception testing to best serve our patients
- Hearing aid fittings, sale, programming, adjustments, cleanings, and parts replacement
- Cochlear Implant candidate evaluation and assessments taking a multidisciplinary team approach with ENT, Psychology, Speech and Occupational therapy departments surrounding the Tahoe basin
- Cochlear Implant activation, programming and follow-up services
- Custom hearing protection including musician’s earplugs, in-ear monitors, swim plugs, sleep plugs, and occupational hearing protection
Preferred Provider
of the NFL Players Association
Tahoe Family Hearing Clinic is a preferred hearing care provider for the NFL Players Association’s Professional Athletes Foundation. Through this partnership, the PAF aims to bring better hearing to former professional athletes and their fans across the nation. Together, we spread awareness, help players in need of hearing care, and collected data on the connection between hearing loss and professional football.
