“Hello! I’m Dr. Jenelle Sandy, Au.D., CCC-A, pediatric and adult audiologist, here to serve South Lake Tahoe and the greater Lake Tahoe Basin.

I was born in Southern California and raised in rural Maine, the bustling city of Chicago and northern California. I grew up babysitting, nannying, and volunteering, always with a passion for working with children and people in some capacity to give back to my community.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and went on to earn my doctor of audiology degree at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. I chose UNC (and they chose me) for their excellent pediatric program, ranked top 5 in the nation. From there, I went on to practice at a specialty pediatric hospital, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. I worked with children diagnosed with rare diseases and illnesses in addition to their hearing loss diagnosis. This unique setting has given me distinctive skills to provide for my patients in ways others may not even consider.

Ultimately, my heart missed the mountains I experienced in my childhood. Returning to the mountains has rekindled my love of skiing and mountain biking, but my passion for helping and providing for my community has not dwindled. When I am not skiing, biking, or working, I can be found exploring the simple pleasures Tahoe has to offer with my loving spouse and two children.”

“Hi, I’m Dr. Olivia Vinup, Au.D., CCC-A, audiologist here at Tahoe Family Hearing Clinic. I first joined the team as an audiology extern in July 2024 and officially stepped into my role as a full-time audiologist in August 2025. From the beginning, I’ve felt deeply connected to our mission of providing compassionate, individualized hearing care to the South Lake Tahoe community.

My journey into audiology began with a love for American Sign Language, which opened my eyes to the importance of communication and sparked a deeper desire to help others stay connected to the world around them. I earned my Doctor of Audiology from A.T. Still University in Mesa, Arizona, and hold my B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders, along with a minor in Psychology, from Northern Arizona University. During my clinical training, I had the opportunity to serve patients in a variety of settings—from private practices to ENT clinics—and I loved getting involved in community outreach, including school hearing screenings and volunteering with the Special Olympics.

I especially value the relationships I build with my patients. I believe that hearing care is personal, and I’m passionate about helping people feel seen, heard, and supported at every step. I also have a growing interest in vestibular testing and tinnitus management, and I’m excited to continue expanding my expertise to serve our patients more holistically.

Outside of the clinic, I’m happiest exploring all the beauty Lake Tahoe has to offer. I moved here to be closer to family, and instantly fell in love with the mountains, trails, water, farmers markets, and wide-open space—perfect for adventuring with my two huskies and my son. Whether I’m paddleboarding, hiking, or just soaking in a quiet Tahoe sunset, this community has truly become home.”
